Success Story: Steps for Success

Another Step Towards Success

susan

Susan came to SunriseArc years ago when her parents, as they aged, began to plan more seriously for her future. Originally Susan attended our Adult Day Training Program and made friends as she adjusted to living at one of our group homes and away from her family home. Her goals grew over time and, at age 46, she began to yearn for her first job. SunriseArc’s Employment Skills Training Program, funded entirely by Lake County and many other philanthropists, allowed Susan to dream of the kinds of jobs she might enjoy. After learning skills needed to attain gainful employment—like how to interact with co-workers and customers, how to interview, and how to dress for work—Susan decided she wanted to work in the food service industry. Our Employment Specialists were able to match Susan with a fast food restaurant and, at age 48, Susan earned her first paycheck. “I go to work and do my best every time I clock in. Now I have money to spend as I want and I like it very much.”

Kudos to Susan and to the SunriseArc staff members who helped her attain a more meaningful life as a tax paying citizen!
